Ernest Fuller Fine
Art is located in the historic original Wells Fargo Building.
This Victorian commercial brick building has Gothic elements,
including large arched windows which allow natural light to
showcase the fine art. It was built in 1874 by Wells Fargo and
Company, originally a magnificent three story building, on the
site of Overland Stage Lines depot, Denvers earliest transportation
hub. Shortly after World War II, the top two stories were removed,
and the remaining building has been used for retail ever since,
housing Roeschs Grill for seventy five years. In 2000,
Ernest Fuller, Jr. and his wife Laura opened Ernest Fuller Fine
Art, transforming the buildings basement into additional
gallery space in 2001. For more detailed information regarding
this historic building, see The Lower Downtown Historic
District by Barbara Gibson, available at the Tattered Cover
Book Store. |
